Totes feeling lucky right now. The lovely Amy Bennison chose me to share her prize after winning an insane comp through LifeStyled – a blog written by Paula Joye (ex editor of Cleo and Madison). We spent the day shopping with Paula at Westfield Doncaster where we each had a $1000 to drop (OMG – I know – awesome). After which we had our Hair & Makeup done by Tony Reynolds and his right hand woman Cynthia. Followed by front row seats at the Alex Perry Fashion show and a night at the glamorous Sofitel Melbourne. All thanks to the Lexus CT 200h. Three cheers to that. Paula unleashed my inner Kei$ha and made Amy purchase pieces outside her comfort zone. Check out some snaps.

Amy: Country Road dress, Sass & Bide jacket, Nine West ankle boots. Me: Sass & Bide T and scarf, Bardot leggings and my kick-arse NYC heals. Our jewelry is from Colette.

Megan Gale opening the show. Glamor.

Ames & I looking positively evil with Alex Perry.

Yes I like her music. But at the moment I’m a little obsessed with her hair colour.

I saw this mid last year and whenever I need inspiration to write I watch it. Mickey Smith, renown photographer and body boarder, opens his heart about what really makes him tick.

Surfers are everywhere. And they all seem to be the cool creative types. Or people who are generally just set on doing what they love. Seriously. I don’t know if it’s because I’m more sensitive to it now after having started surfing and making a surf movie – or if it’s because the surfing culture is bigger than it’s even been. Prob both.
Andrew Field has found a way to fund his surfing lifestyle by creating ‘Rockaway Taco’. A business he believes in. He spends his summer doing this, and then surfs his way around the world for the rest of the year. Check out this video from The Selby.

Whereas Metallica’s Kirk Hammett says that “surfing is the only thing that brings me that feeling, that rush, that’s similar to being on stage and playing in front of people.” Check out this vid by Creative Destruction.
Creative Destruction- Chapter 1: As the Crow Flies from CREATIVE DESTRUCTION on Vimeo.
People all have different reasons for surfing, whether it’s winning, that rush when you drop down the face of the wave or that zen feeling of a sunset surf – but what’s most important is that you do it because you love it. No matter who you are, whether you’re a rockstar, a politician, or a an average joe blow, the one thing that surfers have in common is that they’ll do anything to continue doing what they love. Hearts on fire.
