While the Australian TV industry gathered for the Logies last night – the Melbourne blogosphere had a red carpet experience of their own. No awards were given but plenty of trophies were taken. Photos. Amateur and professional photographers surrounded Scott Schuman AKA the Sartorialist and his gorgeous girlfriend Garance Dore at Cutler & Co in Fitzroy last night.
In town for Fashion Week, this happy couple are back in Melbourne after a stint in Sydney and leave the country on Wednesday. See their blogs for a path of photos. And check out Garance and I below.

Sorry about the bad quality iPhone pic. I work in a photography studio and I don’t have a camera. It’s probably because whenever I get one I lose or break it. Hayley Hughes kindly snapped a photos of Scott and I, which she said she would shoot through. Thanks chick.

Bec Lutz (nee Parenthoin) studied fashion. Designed for some Melbourne crew. Started her own label. Then thought . . . ‘WTF? Why are all these boutiques picking ho-hum-commercial-pieces instead of my ooh-la-la-creative-ones? Where’s the fun in that? ‘. So instead of whining about it. She did something about it. Et Voila. Design A Space was born.
It’s kinda like a gallery. But for clothes. The designers that ’show their work’ their are given the the creative freedom to curate a designated space. It’s up to them as to how much they charge, how often they restock and what they hang.
So. I asked Bec, WHAT’S ON?
What’s on your coat hanger for Sat night?
Kylie Hawkes tailored vest with leggings!
What’s on your mind?
The weather – is it already winter?
What’s on the top of your love list?
Shoes . . . I am obsessed with boots!
What’s on your playlist?
Kings of Leon . . . after their concert the other Friday I am truly obsessed.
What’s on your must have list at the mo?
A new pair of vintage boots.
What’s on your shelves?
What isn’t . . . they are packed full of colour, creativeness and fun.
What’s on your toast?
Honey . . . always honey
What’s on your wall?
Carla Fletcher. . . stunning exhibitions currently being featured in our chapel st store.
What’s on your bedside table?
Chrome Kartel lamp.
What’s on you right now!?
Its freezing . . . hooded leather jacket.
Bec and her DIVINE partner Chris opened the Chapel Street store in September 06 and the City store (Manchester Lane) in September 07. Currently housing an eclectic mixture of womenswear, menswear, accessories, jewellery and artwork, Design A Space provides an artistic retail platform for designers to showcase their entire range in any creative form.
If you’re keen to define a space at Design A Space just pop in to one of the stores and fill out a form.

Shut-up! Bendigo is pretty. Stunning actually. You’ve OBVIOUSLY never been there!!! So go. Go to the Go. You’ve got a really good reason to.
The Golden Age of Couture: Paris and London 1947-1957 (organised by the Victoria & Albert Museum, London) is showing exclusively in Victoria at the Bendigo Art Gallery.

The exhibit includes over 100 dresses alongside photographs and original film exploring the most glamourous and remarkable decades in fashion history.
Sex in the City fan? Find out where the ballerina skirt originally stemmed from. Head up and learn about how Dior’s ‘New Look’ designs signaled the return to luxury after wartime austerity.
The exhibition closes on the 22 of March. Open 10am – 5pm Daily. 42 View Street, Bendigo.

This shady getaway is a destination, not just a one shop stop.

Start at Lady. Try on some of co-owners Skye-Leigh Vallve’s and Project Runway star Petrova Hammond’s whimsical dresses, along with some Mink PInk and My Pet Square. Purchase. Step outside.
Now walk and towards the light to Miss Lau. Another Melbourne made woman who stocks, along with her own label, Australian labels like Strange Strange, Fujinella and NZ’s Sabatini (all class).
Decide. Purchase. Step outside across the road for a well deserved crepe at Roule Galette. Ahhh. Yum. You’ll have to skip all your other meals cos you won’t be fitting into your dresses after that baby.
