> What’s on Strummer?

My blog-a-log as been down for a while. And I was meant to post this interview about a month and a half ago. But couldn’t due to cyberspace suction. So. I’m presuming that Weenie & Gina’s playlist has been updated. And they’ve had their Strummer drinks. But what hasn’t changed is how hot their range is. Gina and Edwina (AKA Weenie) met, fell in love and started designing sexy clothes together. Oh sorry. Not lesbian love. Fashion love. ‘We have a very similar aesthetic and both share a love of vintage clothing, music and art; we gave each other the confidence to just get started and go for it.’

They began by making a range available to family & friends and then in A/W 2009 they launched their first line titled ‘along the path and’. It’s available in store at Ourmishmash, Bracewell Penny Arcade (NSW), Violent Green, Meow Meow (QLD) and Emporia (WA). And ONLINE at The Grand Social. But now, down to business.

> What’s on Design A Space?

city-store-1

Bec Lutz (nee Parenthoin) studied fashion. Designed for some Melbourne crew. Started her own label. Then thought . . . ‘WTF? Why are all these boutiques picking ho-hum-commercial-pieces instead of my ooh-la-la-creative-ones? Where’s the fun in that? ‘. So instead of whining about it. She did something about it. Et Voila. Design A Space was born.

It’s kinda like a gallery. But for clothes. The designers that ‘show their work’ their are given the the creative freedom to curate a designated space. It’s up to them as to how much they charge, how often they restock and what they hang.

So. I asked Bec, WHAT’S ON?

> What’s on Stylestalker?

Woooot. My first interview. Say hi to the girlies behind Stylestalker. Hot to trot.

ss

Millions of blogs and websites are dedicated to following star ensembles. Praising them. Fugging them. Inspiring fashion die hards across the globe.

However, none of them take it to the next level like Sue-Ann (Virgoen/Libra) & Rach (Gemini) from Stylestalker. These rockers take celeb style to the peeps by translating their fave looks into their own wearable, affordable designs. I wanted to know more. So I got the story and asked them ‘What’s on . .?’.

It takes balls to live your dream. Hopefully this sassy duo inspire you to follow yours. And buy some of their gear. I love this zip skirt. Smokin.

SA. We are the ultimate stylestalkers. It started about 2 years ago when Rachel and I were working together and were constantly on all the fashion blogs ( Face Hunter, The Sartorialist etc), wireimage, getty images checking out what people wore  trying to get inspiration for ourselves. This coupled with the fact that there was nothing in Australia that we wanted to wear (that we could afford) led to the idea.

What’s on you right now?
R. An uber-handy stylestalker t-shirt dress. loose-fitting, great for the bali heat.
SA. Pyjamas with ridiculously busty asian schoolgirl characters printed all over it.

What’s on the top of your love list?
R. A-wang, Wasson, Rumi from Fashion Toast.
SA. Truffle oil and sequins.

What’s on your playlist at the moment?
R. Metronomy, Fleet Foxes, Dolly Parton (always), anything produced by Phil Spector.
SA. Pnau, Elton John.

What’s on your coat hanger for Sat night?
R. PJ’s – ill be on a red-eye flight back to Sydney with new samples!
SA. Black gladiator body con dress and a Rick Owens equse draped leather jacket (both next season, watch out!!).

What’s on your must have list for this winter?
R. A butter soft, drapey leather jacket worn over body con dresses with cutout details and tough boots.
SA. Goulash soup and a matching studded jacket + dress.

What’s on the catwalks at the moment that will translate onto the streets?
R. Robocop. Apocolypse. Savages from the future. Will all translate into sharp tailoring with a tough edge.
