It’s raining outside and the sun is shining in this photos. And sometimes . . .

When I think of Issey Miyake I think of summer down at Lorne. Drinking rocket fuel on the foreshore. Nicotine, sweat, salt and L’eau D’Issey moisturising my hands. It wasn’t until I read this New York Post article (thanks Sue) that I found out that he’s a Hiroshima survivor. Have a read.
His clothes almost incorporate an atomic explosion of colour, texture and light and turn his horrific experience into a lesson of peace and harmony. The way the fabrics sit juxtaposed but perfectly in sync. And what makes me fall in love with Issey more, his is 80′s Pleats Please branding, posters and packaging. Serve me some sushi!

Ever since that Calvin Klein Billboard , BAM, hit me in the face I’ve been reminiscing about the simplicity of the original Calvin Klein ads. I miss them. Everything is so overdone these days. To really cut through it would have been better to get back to basics rather than shocking my Grandma with a threesome involving a 15 year old. So I went on a hunt. Look what I found.

I tried to find more of this campaign. Because I JUST ADORE it. But I could only track down Vincent Gallo & Kate Moss. Anyone know of any more?

These more modern ones take from the original ads. Which I just love. But, for some reason they just don’t have the same edge. They scream sex to me. The originals scream intensity. Except for Brooke Sheilds. That just screams BLUE LAGGOOOON.

My blog-a-log as been down for a while. And I was meant to post this interview about a month and a half ago. But couldn’t due to cyberspace suction. So. I’m presuming that Weenie & Gina’s playlist has been updated. And they’ve had their Strummer drinks. But what hasn’t changed is how hot their range is. Gina and Edwina (AKA Weenie) met, fell in love and started designing sexy clothes together. Oh sorry. Not lesbian love. Fashion love. ‘We have a very similar aesthetic and both share a love of vintage clothing, music and art; we gave each other the confidence to just get started and go for it.’
They began by making a range available to family & friends and then in A/W 2009 they launched their first line titled ‘along the path and’. It’s available in store at Ourmishmash, Bracewell Penny Arcade (NSW), Violent Green, Meow Meow (QLD) and Emporia (WA). And ONLINE at The Grand Social. But now, down to business.
