It’s been so long since I’ve blogged that I haven’t even posed this job that we did for the gorgeous Lucy and her brand – Hunting for George. We hit up Brighton Beach one Saturday and made the models from Epic eat ice cream and and watch the sun go down. Clare shot, I produced and Project Managed while Lucy styled. Why? COS WE CAN.

Totes feeling lucky right now. The lovely Amy Bennison chose me to share her prize after winning an insane comp through LifeStyled – a blog written by Paula Joye (ex editor of Cleo and Madison). We spent the day shopping with Paula at Westfield Doncaster where we each had a $1000 to drop (OMG – I know – awesome). After which we had our Hair & Makeup done by Tony Reynolds and his right hand woman Cynthia. Followed by front row seats at the Alex Perry Fashion show and a night at the glamorous Sofitel Melbourne. All thanks to the Lexus CT 200h. Three cheers to that. Paula unleashed my inner Kei$ha and made Amy purchase pieces outside her comfort zone. Check out some snaps.

It’s been a year since I bought a pair of jeans and I underestimated the effect a new item of clothing would have on me and my wardrobe. It was like when you’re craving food and you just don’t know what it is… you keep eating but nothing ever satisfies – until you hit upon the flavour you desire. I didn’t realise why I was feeling so lack luster until Dr Denim and his Jamie Olive Jeans jumped out and slapped me in the face while I was in General Pants on Saturday.

Dr Denim, you gave me and my wardrobe that adrenaline injection that we needed. And then I visited your website and fell in love with your brand. Dr, your website is cool, your photography is even cooler and you make my arse look rounder and perkier than Cheap Monday. You’ve got me. Aaahhh. I’m going to go down the street in my new jeans.

The day of the clog

Traditionally I try and stay away from shoes with no back strap. Being hideously clumsy when sober, I’m revoltingly-so two wines down… so needless to say shoe selection is crucial. However, these look so practical. Not too high as to break an ankle – but high enough to take a couple of kilo’s off. Everyone’s wearing them. Me thinks I will join the Funkis club.

It’s my Bro’s 21st tomorrow night and I’m thinking about a finger wave. No, not what those weird old men do to you in pubs, a proper 1920′s finger wave. The theme is flappers and gangsters (how surprising – seems to be everyone’s fave these days). So I’m thinking a cross between Ange & Drew. But in my research I came upon an old fave. The Great Gatsby. Oh Robert Redford. I wasn’t even alive when you looked this young.

Tim Walker is a London Based fashion photographer who began working as a documentary and portrait photographer for various UK newspapers, eventually leading him to work for British Vogue, W and Harper’s Bazaar. Currently Walker shoots for W, Vanity Fair, British and Italian Vogue. Check out his spread from Vogue Italy Jan 2008. The model has one foot in the grave but the colours just jumped out of my chalk pastel set and remind me of fairy parties, art class and summer. Love it.

Makeup Artistry is one of the most under rated, under publicised professions I know of. Or at least it was when I was growing up. Here’s an example of a Melbournite making it in NYC. Belinda Zollo’s worked with the likes of fashion photographers Paolo Roversi , David Sims and Bruce Weber. As well as Makeup Artists Lucia Pieroni and Stephane Marais.

VOGUE’S GRACE

Any newspaper you flicked through on the weekend would have had a film review or article about The September Issue. Director R.J Cutler and his crew spent 8 months in and around the Vogue office in the shadow of Anna Wintour. Cutler didn’t go in with any particular M.O. just the intention of being a fly on the wall, providing an insight into the daily rigmarole of the office. Enter Grace Coddington, Vogue’s Creative Director.

After spending the first couple of months locked out of Grace’s world – Wintour insisted the camera crew go on a shoot with her. Much to Grace’s displeasure. She new she could do nothing about it so chose to embrace the opportunity. And so R.J. had his story. The continuous cheeky tug of war between two women on the same side. Result: Anna Wintour – fabulous editor at any cost. Grace – heart & soul, the storyteller. And if you don’t have a story you’ve got nothing to edit.

The preview only gives us a snippet of Grace. So I found more.

Photographed by the gorgeous Clare Plueckhahn from C.I. and styled by the savvy Holly Evans of Provisions fame, the photos ooze the relaxed attitude and style that Jess has cultivated with her favourite pieces from local fashion & homeware labels on Lorne’s main drag.
