So. Like. If you didn’t know two mates and I have just finished making a girls surfing movie. First Love. And it rocks. We’ve received a lot of feedback from the screenings but the main comment was – ‘awesome tunes, where did you find them all?’ ‘Triple J and their Unearthed Website. It’s totally radnuts.’ We replied.
Thanks to the brains trust at Triple J we’ve put together the wickedest, all Australian surf film soundtrack ever, trevor. It’s madness. It took a while, and Clare and I listened to a lot of uuurrr not-so-amazingness, but we put our head down and soon came across some gems. Bands we included from the website are Major Chord, Tom Richardson, Big Scary, Justin Carter, The Smoke, The Melodics, SolarStares and the amazing Tim and Jean. The soundtrack also features Triple J faves – Seth Sentry, MPhazes, The Beautiful Girls, Dardanelles and Goons of Doom along pop-queens Dash and Will, Nick Batterham, Matt Walters and new comers Kiri O’Connor and Liz Cogger. If you want to listen to the soundtrack – you’ll have to come to the film. As we’re not sure if we’ll be able to release it on CD. It’s screening at The Australian Centre for Moving Image, Fed Square, Melbourne next Tuesday the 27th of April at 7.30pm. You can get tickets here but DO IT NOW. Cos they will sell out. Or you can check out the full song list here. Yet again, Triple J achieves their goal – promoting and exposing young Australian artists.
